NORMAN LEVY

The idea of the “Ischo Rass” project is the outcome of a first collaboration of Norman and Christian, during a music festival “Terasses Music’Art”. Originally the project consisted of a combination of contemporary dance act and live electronic music. The live act was based on a purely physical transcription of the music at times on the borders of improvisation.
Having received extremely positive feedbacks, we decided to follow this concept, bringing it to a next stage by redefining its purposes and clarifying its working approach.
This is how a collaborative process involving contemporary dance, music, video art, light show and costumes from various influences started.
 

Ischo rass, “and again” in Russian, is a metaphor of the schizophrenic duality which occurs when trying to overcome creative potentials limitations. It questions the influences of education on creativity and how in some cases it is absolutely necessary to overcome classical edifications and institutions in order to reach this unlimited essence of creation.
